Physical Description(a) Translucent deep blue glass; opaque white glass; cast or blown; cased; carved (cameo technique). Fragment from cup; short everted rim, outer edge beveled, two horizontal lathe-cut grooves on inner surface; wall curves inward towards bottom. Exterior decorated in low relief: unidentified object and bunch of grapes on curved stem; (b) translucent deep blue glass with many small bubbles; opaque white overall; cast or blown; cased; cut (cameo technique); fragment from wall of cup; decoration consists of vase with inverted bell-shaped body, perhaps with two handles, from which springs lotus-like flower on long stem, with curving stems on either side; to left, outstretched forelegs of animal with long hair, and paws with curved nails; to right, one paw. The animals and lotus cameo-cut; no trace of overlay survives on vase or stems. On interior of fragments, many faint horizontal striations.Provenance
