Physical DescriptionClear glass with many minute bubbles; free-blown and engraved. (a) Pedestal-like plain foot with underfolded rim, slight pontil mark; supporting faceted inverted baluster stem with multiple red twist; straight-sided tapering bowl with bulging faceted lower part; (b) set-in domed cover with pear-shaped faceted finial with multi-red twist; besides the faceted cut decoration on stem, on lower bowl and finial there is an engraved scene on the obverse, including two gentlemen sitting on stools and toasting each other with two double knobbed goblets over a table with a large table cloth, on the table a large spherical decanter with cylindrical neck; on the left and right two bush- like flower and leaf sprays; on the reverse the following inscription: "HET WEL WESEN VAN DE GODE VRIENDEN"; on the cover, obverse two leaf branches spreading to the right; on the dome a circlet of cut ovals; festoon-like miniature band around edge of bowl.Provenance
