Physical DescriptionWineglass (vetro a fili). Colorless glass with green-greyish tinge, with seeds; opaque white lattimo canes; mold-blown, vetro a fili. Bell-shaped bowl with fire-polished rim, joined by merese to gilt lion-mask stem, itself joined by disk to shallow, blown foot with infolded edge and rough pontil mark. Stem blown in two-part mold, with gadrooning on top (12 ribs) and bottom (8 ribs), two lion masks, and two four-petaled rosettes on chains of five beads. Applied gold leaf has cracked into tiny flakes during blowing of stem. Bowl with ten spiral lattimo threads (a fili), twisted to the right, without being fully marvered into the surface of the glass. Lower tips of threads end in straight shear mark at base of bowl. The mold did not close properly, and left a pronounced seam on both sides of lion stem. The canes are separated evenly, except for two that lie on top of each other in the lower part of the bowl.Provenance
