Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, cut, stained, engraved. Shallow, circular shapes with upcurved sides and shallow wells; the rims cut in a series of rounded petals; the undersides of the sides cut in a series of three bands of cross-cut square panels; cut groove above a band of polished rectangular panels; the well of (A) stained yellow on the inside, and engraved on the reverse with the figure of a seated woman holding a shield and presenting swords to soldiers, inscribed in Cyrillic below ("People's Volunteer Corps") and dated "1812"; the back of the center well of (B) stained-yellow, a standing figure of a warrior holding a shield in a field of fallen soldiers, horses, and armor engraved through the yellow, and inscribed in Cyrillic below and dated "1812".
