Physical DescriptionCovered Goblet. Colorless non-lead glass; blown, engraved. Large, ovoid bowl, with engraved bands of polished circular facets above and below a matte band, with polished engraving of a crowned eagle holding an eagle-topped baton and an orb, bearing the crowned monogram "FR" on its breast, on the opposite side an engraved (polished) badge of the Order of the Black Eagle (an eagle in a circular shield, inscribed "SUUM CUIQUE" above, surrounded by a sunburst; with formal scrollwork panels between; engraved lambrequin border below; stem composed of a rounded disk above, below and separating opposing baluster knops with engraved formal leaf bands; circular foot with engraved formal leaf border; polished pontil mark. (b) Domed, circular shape, with rounded sides and tapered, cut, inset flange; band of engraved formal foliage around the sides and around the base of the finial matching that on the foot of (a); solid finial formed of a faceted ball knop above a leaf- engraved true baluster, rounded disk, flattened ball knop decorated with a ring of polished circular facets, and rounded disk; rough pontil mark.Provenance
