Interpretive Notes
An inscription on the foot records that the engraving was added by Canon A. O. E. von dem Busch of Hildesheim, Germany, in 1747.
Physical DescriptionColorless and transparent bright blue non-lead glasses; blown, diamond-engraved. Large round funnel bowl decorated all over with a diamond-point engraved landscape, with two large stone buildings, one with flag inscribed "47" flying from the tower, a three-masted ship between, twice signed "Busch": below one building and below one tree; elaborate lace-like wide formal foliate border below the rim; elaborate stem composed of a waisted section above a flat, double-headed dragon stem (with opaque white threads in the body) with trailed and pincered blue combs, beaks and fins; straight section below, ending in a swelling base; folded foot with rough pontil mark.
