Physical DescriptionBlue non-lead glass; pressed, gilded. Ovoid solid shape in the form of Plymouth Rock with "1620" on top surface, partially gilded. Flat base has lengthy inscription in two lines around edge "A ROCK IN THE WILDERNESS WELCOMED OUR SIRES/FROM BONDAGE FAR OVER THE DARK ROLLING SEA/ON THAT HOLY ALTAR THEY KINDLED THE FIRES/JEHOVAH WHICH GLOW IN OUR BOSOMS FOR THEE" at one end "PILGRIM ROCK/TRADEMARK/1876" and at the other "INKSTAND CO/ PROV/RI"; around edge of base "MARY CHILTON WAS THE FIRST TO LAND UPON THE ROCK DEC 21 1620. IN ATTEMPTING TO RAISE UP THE ROCK IN 1778 IT WAS SPLIT ASUNDER. THIS IS A FACSIMILE OF THE UPPER PART".
