Physical DescriptionSheet metal, wood; turned, painted, rolled, cut, punched, bent, crimped, assembled, soldered. (A) Alcohol burner and stand made of sheet metal, consisting of a handled alcohol lamp placed into the bottom of a vented cylinder holding a metal container with domed top and narrow opening. Mounted parallel to the burner stand onto a raised metal platform is another stand with a turned wooden handle and a semi-circular swivel rest made of bent sheet metal. This stand is connected above the wooden handle to the vented burner set-up by a shallow, stamped sheet metal pan. (B) Stand made of sheet metal, consisting of a handled alcohol lamp placed into the bottom of a vented cylinder holding a metal container with domed top and narrow opening. Mounted parallel to the burner stand onto a raised metal platform is another stand with a turned wooden handle. This stand is connected above the wooden handle to the vented burner set-up by a shallow, stamped sheet metal pan; the lower alcohol burner and the swivel rest are missing. (C) Bunsen burner for use with natural gas. It consists of a cast iron base imprinted with "G.BARTHEL" above the edge of the foot, a serrated stem to connect the tubing, and a turner valve with red rubber handle. (D, E) Round glass alcohol lamps with wicks. (F) Six smooth river pebbles of grey color; unsigned.Provenance
