Physical DescriptionTranslucent deep blue, emerald-green and amethyst glass bands with opaque white bands and colorless bands casing gold foil, pitted interior surface, exterior probably reground, some traces of weathering on rim; mosaic or gold band glass technique, lathe-cut. The pattern repeats itself three times on the body, configuration begins with a central band of amethyst cased by a thin band of white and surrounded by a wide band of deep blue; this in turn has a thin band of white surrounded by a thin band of amethyst followed by a wide band of colorless glass with shattered gold in turn cased by a thin band of emerald-green to yellow-green glass. As this band moves into the neck area, the green becomes more pronounced and an amethyst strip cased with white flows up into the rim as if the strips may have been folded in a sort of figure-eight pattern. Flared rim, two concentric lathe-cut grooves on top of lip, tapers into short cylindrical neck spreading out and down to form shoulder, wall spreads out sharply to form truncated conical body as far as preserved.Provenance
