Physical DescriptionColorless lead glass, white sulphide, red leather case; encased, cut, molded sulphide. (a) Flat, octagonal shape, both faces polished flat, sides beveled; enclosing a molded sulphide double portrait of a man and woman (Maximilian I, King of Bavaria and Princess Caroline Frederike, of Baden), facing sinister; inscribed at the base of the neck on the man "ANDRIEU"; reverse flat. (b) Hinged, two-part octagonal case, outside covered in red leather with gilt stamped borders, including a band of flowers on the cover; lined with blue velvet, and with a blue silk ribbon to remove the plaque; metal spring catch.Provenance
