Physical DescriptionSnuff Bottle with Stopper Spoon. Opaque white, red, green, yellow, blue, tan, and colorless glass, light green stone, cork, ivory; blown, cased, cameo-carved, stained. (a) Flattened, roughly circular form, with short cylindrical neck, the rim polished flat, with an opening for a stopper and spoon; the body opaque white, with pad and multiple-layer overlays, cameo carved as flowers and phoenixes, on one face, a red rose and a yellow peony on green stem and leaves, the stem and leaves backed with white, colorless, and red layers; on the opposite face, a stylized red flower with tan buds on a green stem and leaves, the latter similarly backed with white, colorless and red layers; on the side, blue phoenixes with tan tail feathers, standing on tan rocks which extend around the base; carved oval tan foot rim. (b) Domed circular cap of mottled light green stone; tapered cork shank; long orange-stained spoon, with slender handle and pointed oval spatulate bowl.
