Physical DescriptionGoblet. Colorless non-lead glass; blown, cut, engraved. Large round- funnel bowl, with large oval polished facets at the base, with conforming notched arches above and between; engraved elaborate coat of arms of Ernst Friedrich Carl, Duke of Saxe- Hildburghausen on one side; on the opposite side, three interlaced C's in a circular panel, framed in a scrollwork border, capped by a crown, supported by two angels, with the emblem of an elephant, bearing a casteblated mount and rider, inscribed "D" suspended below; stem composed of a merese at top, a facet-cut hollow flattened ball knop, two mereses and facet- and panel-cut inverted baluster enclosing a large air bubble, spreading at the base; large, slightly domed disk foot, with engraved formal scrollwork and foliage on the top surface; rough pontil mark.Provenance
