Oval shape, with a handle at each end formed of two bear paws; "1776 / CENTENNIAL / 1876" within each handle; center depicts frosted bust of Washington inscribed: "FIRST IN WAR FIRST IN PEACE" above his head, "FIRST IN THE HEARTS / OF HIS / COUNTRYMEN." below bust; circles and diamonds fill rim; scalloped edge.
