Physical DescriptionWhite, yellow, red, light blue, and deep blue, all opaque glasses; monochrome rods drawn or cast and perhaps cold-worked, then assembled into bundles and fused; bundles probably miniaturized by reheating and drawing, then perhaps cold-worked to make canes with simple patterns; groups of canes bundled, fused, and probably reheated and miniaturized, then cold-worked to make bar with complex patterns; bar sawed into slices; slice finished by grinding and polishing. Plaque: roughly rectangular. Upper surface polished; sides and lower surface matte. Decorated with aquatic plants in deep blue matrix: (from left to right) right half of short vertical yellow stalk with flameshaped red and white leaf or bud, longer white stalk with large light blue and red flower, short vertical yellow stalk with flameshaped red and white leaf or bud, lotus with light blue stalk and flower with three white petals separated by two red petals, and left half of short vertical yellow stalk with flameshaped red and white leaf or bud. Grinding and polishing of surfaces revealed numerous small bubbles, especially in deep blue matrix.Provenance
