Physical DescriptionLight blue translucent (matrix), white opaque, yellow opaque, light green opaque, red opaque, and greenish blue translucent (cane slices and rods) glasses; rods of different colors assembled and fused; resultant canes sliced into thin sections; slices arranged on bed of unwanted scraps of cane, and fused to make plaque; upper surface of plaque ground and polished. Plaque: upper right corner. Upper surface, which is slightly convex, is decorated with stalks, leaves, and flowers, some of which are also visible on lower surface: near left edge, almost vertical yellow stalk with four pairs of small oval yellow and blue leaves growing from it; three green stems grow out of top of stalk and uppermost pair of leaves, each with green leaf on either side; stem on left and at center is incomplete, but right stem has green, white, and yellow flower, and short, curving yellow stem to its right, with cluster of eight circular buds or seeds, each with yellow center and white edge; below these, one yellow stalk which curves out toward right, with two pairs of small oval yellow and blue leaves and yellow and red striped bud or seed pod (shaped like seed capsule of poppy); at left edge of fragment, part of similar bud or pod, evidently on stalk which curved out toward left; near right edge of plaque, yellow stalk growing out toward right at angle of about 45°, with four pairs of small oval yellow and blue leaves and, at top, flower in form of white six-pointed star with yellow dot at center; at edge of plaque, above flower, flower with four white heart-shaped petals edged with red and, at center, yellow cross edged with blue; above this, two white and yellow star-shaped flowers; at bottom right corner of fragment, cluster of eight circular buds or seeds, each with yellow center and white edge; and, below these, one white and yellow star-shaped flower and part of flower with white petals edged with red.
