Physical DescriptionLebensalter Beaker. Clear glass; wear marks at base; free blown and engraved. Almost cylindrical body with thick bottom; engraving shows the 12 ages of man (Lebensalter-Becher) on a stepped arch, depicting a baby and eleven times a couple at different age, below arch a coach and three men carrying a coffin to a grave, both scenes divided by flowers and two masks and having the inscription: "zur Taufe" and "zum Grabe" respectively. Captions for each stage read: "Kind in der Wiege, 5 Jahr ein Kind, 10 Jahr ein Knab, 20 Jahr ein Juengling, 30 Jahr ein Mann, 40 Jahr wohlgethan, 50 Jahr Stillstand, 60 Jahr geths Alter an, 70 Jahr ein Greihz, 80 Jahr Schneewihz, 90 Jahr der Kinderspott, 100 Jahr gnade bey Gott"; below cut rim a band of horizontal ovals with dots.
