Physical DescriptionColorless lead glass; blown and engraved. Tall, ovoid form, with rounded shoulders, waisted neck, and trefoil rim, with engraved pendant border around the rim; several engraved bands on the neck and shoulder, including palmettes, meander, pendants, and dotted bands; the body deeply engraved with a classical scene, with a partly-draped man (Apollo?) driving a chariot drawn through the clouds by four horses, with seven women alongside, a putto flying overhead, carrying a torch, while a female god hovers ahead, scattering flowers; a sunburst in the distance, and a landscape with buildings, hills and a lake below; cut ledge at the base, with engraved borders below, ending in a band of engraved foliate border matching that at the base of the jug; polished pontil mark.
