Physical DescriptionColorless encasing multicolored (dominated by shades of blue, green, yellow, with details of brown, red, and white) opaque, translucent, and transparent glasses; metallic gold; glass (silver bromide on manganese-dioxide potassium-dichromate cobalt), gold foil; cut sections of murrine cane slices, powdered glasses, and metal foils picked up and encased in colorless. Large, solid, almost spherical form with smaller spherical interior mass that appears to emerge from the base; lower half of interior mass suggests water with a black background, approximately half is vertically streaked with shades of blue, upper half is irregularly packed with a variety of murrine cane slices, in varying thickness', suggesting land masses, vegetation, and islands' scattered patches of gold leaf, scattered air traps; just above top of internal mass is a small, horizontal, circular net of minute bubbles; several cane slices and lengths (satellites and space ships) "free float" within the colorless around the mass; base ground flat, ground and polished pontil; scratched on base over pontil area "S(6-2)impson/1991".
