Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass, opaque brown and transclucent pale yellow enamels; cut, ground, kiln-formed-slumped (sheet steel mold), reverse enameled--powdered enamels sifted and manipulated, fired. Low square dish with slightly rounded sides of bubbly sheet glass, walls flare from center squared base,e xterior decoration of granular enamel coloration; narrow perimeter border of brown fading to pale yellow, remainder of walls are unenameled down to base which has brown and yellow squared background, pushed through enamel is a stylized linear scene of male and female figures kneeling or squatting ack to back on a beach, male twists back to look at female facing away, above horizon line and at left is a sailboat and at right, scattered waves and flying birds, foreground has tufts of grass, starfish and sea shells; flattened square base; pushed through enamel at center lower edge of design and (reading from front): "M.H.".Provenance
