Physical Description(a) Translucent dark blue, with opaque white glasses; blown, cased, cut and engraved. Four-sided fragment; probably from upper part of cup, D: 10-12 cm, with translucent blue glass wall up to 0.4 cm thick. Opaque white glass overlay cut and engraved with trunk and branch of tree with two disproportionately large palmate, vine-like leaves. Knotted to trunk of tree, immediately below branch, curtain, presumably attached at other end to second upright element, such as tree or column; (b) translucent deep blue glass with opaque white casing; blown; cased; carved (cameo technique); lathe-cut. Fragment from cup, immediately below rim; wall curves outward below rim, then downward and inward. Decorated on outside with head of putto or young satyr facing half left; to the left, hanging drapery (?). On interior, immediately below rim, one lathe-cut groove.
