Physical DescriptionClear glass with many minute bubbles and impurities and slight greyish tinge; free-blown, enameled and gilded. Almost cylindrical body slightly tapering upwards, with pushed up base having rough pontil mark, applied foot ring; enamel decoration: on the obverse the double headed Empire eagle in black and white with yellow halos and blue orb and yellow cross heightened by red and yellow pearls, on the wings the multicolored coats-of- arms of the parts of the Holy Roman Empire, diamond ornaments in gold and white flank the tail, star-like and lozenge-like white ornaments on the lower section of the back; on the upper back: "Das Heilige Romisch Reich mitt Sampt seinnen glidern. Anno Domini 1631"; below rim a gold band with white beaded lines forming ovals and diamonds, the gold band being accompanied above and below by rows of white beads, a row of U's and, below, a frieze of double arcades with groups of triple dots, all in white.
