Physical DescriptionTranslucent deep purple glass, appearing almost black in reflected light; mold-blown. Cup: fragment of wall. Wall is vertical at top, curving inward at bottom. Mold-blown decoration in fairly prominent relief: at top, presumably just below rim, horizontal band, probably narrow, which may contain inscription (parts of one or two indeterminate "letters" survive) above horizontal border; below this, parts of two scenes separated by vertical border line; to left, vertical palm frond which touches border at top and, low down, part of animal (possibly horse) moving at speed; to right, near border, youth or man moves to right, his head (perhaps with cap) shown in profile, his torso (covered with tunic or some other garment) shown almost frontally, his left arm extended in front of him and his right arm bent, with basket in right hand; in front of him, some other element, perhaps vegetation, possibly with palm frond. Extending vertically downward immediately below vertical border line, faint seam caused at juncture of two mold parts. One large bubble near bottom.Provenance
