Physical DescriptionColorless lead glass; blown, diamond-point engraved. Ovoid bowl with scratch-engraved decoration of an elaborate border of fruit and flowers between bands of repeated circles, arcs, and points; interrupted at three points by rectangular panels, each holding a cornucopia spilling fruit and flowers downward; three vignettes on the side of the bowl: one, a figure of Mercury holding a caduceus and wine bottle, sitting on a bale inscribed "V L D J", another with a barrel inscribed "100" on the end, and the third, a bale inscribed "RUA / DE"; drawn, straight stem; conical foot with rough pontil mark.Provenance
