Physical DescriptionColorless (grey) non-lead glass; blown, diamond-engraved, painted, gilded. Cylindrical shape, decorated with diamond- point engraving, gilding, and cold painting: formal borders of foliage, circles and intersecting arcs above a gilt band with painted stylized foliage and flowers, above a third stylized- foliage band; diamond-point engraved vertical formal bands of flowering plants at either side of two panels decorated with cold-painted allegorical groups, one labeled "CARITAS" above the figure of a woman embracing a nude child, the other labeled "IVSTICIA" above the figure of a woman holding a sword and scales; the date "1605" included in the labels above the figures; borders similar to those at the rim of the glass repeated below the figures; folded, trumpet-shape foot, inscribed "725." in white paint on the inside of the foot; rough pontil mark.
