Physical DescriptionPale transparent green non-lead glass; blown, enameled, gilt. Tall, cylindrical shape, basically straight-sided, but incurved at the top; gilt band near the top, with red, white, and blue enameled dots in a pattern of intersecting arcs and diamonds; bands of white dots and scallop bands above and below; the sides with enameled figures of a standing man with halberd in one hand, a covered goblet in the other, and a woman holding a spray of foliage, the figures standing at either side of a flaming heart, pierced with two arrows, cut with a two-handled saw, with a chain and lock below, around two clasped hands; next to the man stand two boys, alongside the woman, a girl; a large motif of stylized flowers and fruit; extensive inscription in German script in white enamel around the top of the glass, celebrating the family of Nicolaus Muntzell and his wife Anna; dated 1671; yellow, red, and blue bands, and a band of white scallops below; flared, trailed foot rim, with white enamel dashes; concave base, with rough pontil mark in the center.
