Physical DescriptionOpalescent non-lead (soda-lime) glass, copper red (black), black glass enamel; blown, reverse-painted enameling, fired. Tall ovoid opalescent vessel, with slightly waisted wide opening and black lip wrap; walls decorated, with grisaille reverse-painted enameling in linear Gothic Revival style; one side depicting a reclining female nude embracing a unicorn within a landscape setting that includes (on opposite side) a tree, with twisted pointed branches and circular leaves or berries; large ground and polished pontil; inscribed in script around pontil: "Catherine Thompson 1988".
