This vessel demonstrates Eisch’s ongoing concern with imperfect forms and occluded or impenetrable surfaces. The vase reflects Eisch’s interest in the natural world, and especially the environment of Frauenau.
Physical DescriptionBlack tinted glass; blown, enameled, gilt, fumed. Irregular ovoid shape; rounded rim; heavy applied glass bit resembles amphibious creature with long tail, with gilt-speckled back and enameled and/or gilt eyes and legs; body of the vessel enameled with leaves and flying insects; iridescent surfaces; concave polished pontil area; signed on flat base: "Eisch/82/ E.S.", in script.
