Physical DescriptionColorless lead glass; cast, cut, polished (a) (Lower component) nearly square slab of glass with truncated pyramidal cross- section; upper surface matte with twelve raised pyramid forms distributed in alternating rows of twos and threes; grid structures of shallow lines are laid out at 45° angle to the square slab and also aligned with it; a pyramid is centered on every other point from which eight rays radiate; signed on base in script "Steuben/David P. Dowler". (b) (Upper component) square slab of glass with inverted truncated pyramidal cross section; lower surface matte with negative images of four complete and eight partial pyramid forms distributed in alternating rows as in (a), with grid structure as in (a); deep concave cut centered on top of slab frames the four central pyramids; (b) interlocks with (a) and sets on top of (a); unsigned.Provenance
