Saucer shaped like half of fish that has been divided vertically and now rests on its side, with body hollowed out to form oval recess. Rim plain, with rounded lip; two horizontal triangular flanges at sides, representing caudal and anal fins, and two similar flanges at end, representing forked tail; wall (TTh. 0.5 cm, Th. without decoration 0.3 cm) curves down and in, and merges with base, which is convex. Decorated on fins, wall, and base. On each fin: one incised line, extending from base to tip. On wall and base: “step” that runs from side to side at junction of head and body, and represents gills; between gills and base of tail, three tear-shaped bosses, which serve as vessel’s feet, each with concave surface and its point toward tail.Provenance
