Physical DescriptionBlack, opaque glass, copper alloy; pressed, attached to copper alloy mount. Medallion: oval. Upper surface decorated in prominent and crisp relief: man fighting lion. Man stands to left, with head half turned to right, torso shown frontally, left leg extended and right leg bent; he wears long-sleeved, knee-length tunic; his right arm is semi-extended to side, with right hand grasping short sword with blade pointing down; his left arm is also semi-extended, with left hand grasping lion's mane. Lion stands to right, shown in profile facing left; he rears up, standing on left hind leg and raking man's knee with right hind leg and waist with forelegs; his jaws are open, attempting to bite man's chest. Medallion is contained in plain copper alloy mount with straight sides and flat back.Provenance
