Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown window glass, painted. Rectangular flat sheet of thin glass, painted on the reverse side with an interior of a crude house, with a group of people around a heavy wood table, a man seated in a chair at the right, with his left hand on a thick book, his right arm extended, and holding eyeglasses in his right hand; a boy in blue coat behind him, a small boy in black at his right; a woman leaning on the table opposite the man, with a young girl, child, and young man at her side, an old woman behind her, holding a child who reaches toward a long-haired dog; a basket with cloth, pail, and bottle-jug alongside the table, with a wood mousetrap beneath; a bird cage on the wall overhead; a corked glass bottle and a ceramic jug in a niche in the wall at the left; large ceramic jars on a wood shelf; in a frame with molded, gilt scalloped ribbing at the inner edge, flanked by a wide concave molding, and a band of gilt, curved scallops at the outer edge; backed with thin boards painted black, with a paper label at the center, with illegible inscription; a tape along one edge of the backing also inscribed in ink (illegibly).
