Physical DescriptionColorless lead glass; cast (pressed ?), cut, sheet-metal frame, cardboard. Flat, circular shape, with slightly convex face, molded on the reverse with intaglio decoration, including an oak-leaf and acorn wreath at the center, enclosing the inscription "PRESIDENT/DU CONSEIL/DES MINISTRES/LE 11 8BRE. 1832./NE A ST. AMANS/LE 29 MARS/1769", and a series of six oak- leaf wreaths above, inscribed (from left, clockwise) "OCANA", "AUSTERLITZ", "PASSAGE/DE LA LINTH.", "SIEGE/DE/GENES.", "OPORTO", and "TOULOUSE"; massed military trophies and flags at the bottom; backed with dark brown cardboard; in a rounded gilt metal frame with prongs on the reverse holding the plaque in place.Provenance

Purchased from Louis Lyons in 1984 using funds from the Clara S. Peck Endowment Fund. Catalogue cards say that these objects were a bequest of Clara S. Peck (by exchange), and the purchase recommendation says the museum planned to use funds acquired by deaccessioning duplicate paperweights, including some given by Mrs. Amory Houghton and Mrs. Leigh M. Battson. Several paperweights bequeathed by Clara S. Peck in 1983 were also deaccessioned around that time.
