Physical DescriptionFooted Beaker. Colorless non-lead glass; blown, cut, engraved, gilt. Tapered, straight-sided, cylindrical bowl, waisted at the base; gilt, polished bowl, waisted at the base; gilt, polished rim; the sides divided into two panels by cut ribs, the ribs with engraved foliate scrollwork; the front panel with engraved portrait bust of a man (Augustus III of Saxony) facing right, within a crowned, foliate frame, flanked by trophy arms and flags, with elaborate scrollwork below; the reverse side with elaborate crowned coat of arms (Poland and Saxony), within a similar frame, flanked by elaborate foliate scrollwork; polished panels on the waisted base of the bowl; faceted flattened ball knop stem; circular foot with faceted rim; no pontil mark.Provenance
