Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown (probably mold-blown), cut, enameled, stained, gilded. Waisted shape with flared, thick, disk-shaped foot; the rim polished flat on top and chamfered on the inside and gilded; the sides with stained, enameled, and gilded decoration; a linear stained band below the rim, decorated with gilded dots, and framed with gilded lines, a gilded stylized wave band below; the sides with a bird cage on the front, in amber and purple enamels, the cage holding one bird inside, while another perches on top; the cage resting on flat ground, with feathery bushes at either side; inscribed "le Desir" in gilded script below; a linear gilded band below, with entwined vine; the sides of the foot cut with vertical notches, outlined with gilding; signed "AK" in purple enamel on the edge of the foot, on the reverse side; the bottom polished flat, with cut star, decorated with amber stain; inscribed "37-" in red paint on the bottom.Provenance
