Physical DescriptionTransparent pale greenish very bubbly glass with many impurities; wear marks at base; free-blown, enameled and gilded. Cylindrical body with pushed up base having very rough pontil mark, applied foot ring; enamel decoration: the frieze contains in multicolored enamel, three pairs of riders on horses proceeding to the right; the central pair, in black capes and black hats seem to be knights or burgers; they are preceded by two soldiers on horseback holding lances; behind them two more men on horseback also proceeding to the right, one apparently a herald and blowing a trumpet while the other is clad in full armor and is beating the drums; above is the date "1605"; the groups are separated from each other by green and white stalks of lily-of-the-valley, two curly ornaments are put in the free spaces of the central pair, an arrow-like motif is behind the pair with lances; below the rim there is a gilded band (partly rubbed off) studded with pairs of green and red beads; the band being accompanied by four rows of white beads, the beads of two of them much smaller than the others; below the main scene three bands in blue, yellow and red; white dashes on the foot ring; on the base in red paint: "LG 299a"; another number in black reads: "605".Provenance
