Interpretive Notes
The coat of arms of the Medici family is combined with crossed keys and a papal tiara. This combination indicates that the arms belonged to a Medici pope, either Leo X (1513-1521) or Clement VII (1523-1534).
Physical DescriptionTazza. Colorless; very bubbly. Blown, mold-blown; enameled, gilded. Shallow bowl with flaring, outfolded rim. Second gather applied to center, mold-blown (12 ribs swirling to left), and gilded; gilded band on exterior below rim, consisting of scales, is decorated with enameled dots in blue and red white, accompanied on both sides by white dots; on inside at center, coat of arms of Medici family of Florence crowned by papal tiara with crossed keys, rendered in yellow, red, blue, and white enamel paints.
