Physical DescriptionVery pale yellowish glass; free-blown and gilded, with applied and tooled decoration. Conical foot flaring to wide thickened rim (applied thread) and tapering to solid stem with a blade knop followed by a flattened knop, very high deep straight-sided funnel bowl; about 2" below the rim a ring bulge; very elaborate open threadwork which surrounds the lower portion of the bowl and is strengthened by a ring; the network consists of seven rows of zig-zag threads, forming vertical diamonds; a single thread applied to upper foot; the gilded decoration has been applied to the exterior of the bowl; the main scene consists of a broad frieze below the bulge and thus is covered by the thread network; the scene consists of three putti: one is running to the right, the second one is sitting on an elevation of the earth or a pile of unidentified material, the third one is apparently trying to pick fruits from a tree, in between the putti flowers or trees as well as a sun motif, the frieze consisting of a row of flowers with blossoms and leaves, placed on the grass; the details are scratched in with a stylus.Provenance
