Physical DescriptionFragment of Incalmo Bottle with Animals. Upper part: transparent deep blue, with very small bubbles; lower part: almost colorless, with yellowish green tinge. Blown (two gathers); pincered. Fragment from upper body of bottle. Shoulder slopes and is rounded at edge, with horizontal seam at junction with wall, which curves out, down, and in. Wall is decorated in low relief with large part of roundel containing animal and, adjacent to it, small part of apparently identical roundel. Roundel (L. about 6 cm), which appears to have slightly recessed border, contains animal with seen in profile facing viewer’s left, but with head in twisted perspective. Head has muzzle, two pointed ears, and two eyes. Neck and body are shown in outline, and additional lines separate head from neck and neck from body, which has three low bosses. Forelegs are indicated by single lines terminating in three “toes; ” part of one hind leg, only, survives. Long tail extends forward above back and ends in tassel with three strands. Below animal’s muzzle, one six-pointed star. Surface behind roundel is almost completely smooth.
