Physical DescriptionPitcher with Ring-and-Dot Motifs. Transparent blue (body) and transparent greenish blue (handle), both bubbly, with black inclusions. Blown; pincered; handle applied. Ewer: pear-shaped. Rim folded inward, with pinched pouring lip; wall straight and flaring, then curving down and in at bottom; base is disk-shaped, with rounded edge formed by folding; pontil mark circular (D. about 1 cm). Handle with circular cross section was dropped onto to upper wall on top of pincered motif, drawn up and in, and attached to outside of rim, with pinched thumb rest at highest point. Lower two-thirds of body is decorated with three horizontal rows of identical ring-and-dot motifs with circular boss at center and concentric raised ring. Top row, at level of lower handle attachment, has four motifs; middle row has five motifs; and bottom row, immediately above base, also has five motifs, which are stretched and wider at top than bottom.Provenance
