Physical DescriptionClear extremely bubbly glass with impurities and pinkish-grey tinge; wear marks at base; free-blown, enameled and gilded. With medial mounting; body with lower part being vertical, then slightly tapering upwards, pushed up base with rough pontil mark, applied foot; applied thread below rim, applied slightly curved solid handle attached to upper and middle body; gilded silver cover hinged to upper handle with thumb piece and finial consisting of fountain-like middle support accompanied by three open work F-shaped attachments and crowned by an amphora-like finial; the cover has a decoration of onion-shaped motifs in double formation, including scrolls and berries in high relief on the lower section and engraved acanthus-like motifs in the other section; enamel decoration: on the obverse, in multi- colored enamel, the double headed eagle of the Hapsburgs with Imperial crown, holding a shield including a silver bar on a red background (for Austria) and a half shield with yellow and blue diagonals (for Burgundy); underneath the symbol of the order of the golden fleece is suspended; flanking the eagle are the shields of Bohemia (rampant lion) and Hungary (white bars and double cross) topped by crowns; above is the date: "1606"; below rim a gilded band (rubbed off) studded with two rows of blue beads and accompanied at top by a row of blue and a row of white beads, and below by the applied ring painted spirally in white and red; white dots on the foot ring; on the base an old catalogue number in red: "LG 396".Provenance
