Physical DescriptionColorless or almost colorless. Blown (two gathers); relief-cut. Goblet. Wall (Th. 0.15 cm) of bowl is straight and tapering, with horizontal flange near bottom, below which it tapers with slightly convex profile; solid stem. Wall is decorated in relief (Th. 0.1 cm) with horizontal line of Kufic inscription (H. 0.75 cm) above frieze containing three almost identical birds. Only part of inscription survives. Each bird is shown in profile and stands facing left, with its head pointing downward. It has small head with pointed beak and eye indicated by countersunk dot; long, thin neck; body with plump breast; small wing represented by half-palmette; tail cut off straight; and short leg with triangular foot; neck is notched, and body is filled with printies.
