Physical DescriptionAlmost colorless, with yellowish tinge; few minute bubbles. Blown; linear- and slant-cut. Fragment of base or cover (described as base). Lower wall descends vertically; base plain, with, on underside, raised medallion (D. 3.3 cm) filled with linear- and slant-cut ornament: bird shown frontally, with (when seen from inside) head turned to viewer’s right. Head has pointed beak; body is short and divides at bottom to form legs; wings are partly extended on either side of body, and each terminates in halfpalmette. Neck, body, legs, and wings of bird are enlivened with short linear cuts, usually in pairs, and background has similar treatment.Provenance
