Physical DescriptionColorless or almost colorless. Blown; slant- and linear-cut. Bottle with almost globular body, but with width greater than height. Rim plain, with internal bevel and top ground flat; neck cylindrical; wall curves smoothly out, down, and in; shallow disklike base, slightly concave on underside; no pontil mark (but see below). Slant- and/or linear-cut decoration on neck, wall, and underside of base. On neck: linear-cut band of chevrons, bordered at top and bottom by pairs of continuous horizontal grooves. Chevrons are arranged in six adjoining columns, each with 11 pairs of diagonal cuts that form inverted Vs. On wall: broad band of slant- and linear-cut ornament with pair of continuous horizontal grooves at top and single groove at bottom. Ornament consists of four identical roundels separated by vegetal ornament. Each roundel is defined by two concentric grooves and contains slant-cut rosette composed of four heart-shaped elements. Space between each pair of roundels is occupied by slant- and linear-cut scrolling stem with leaf resembling half-palmette, but with volute at top and bottom. On underside of base: ring of about 73 short oval cuts at edge and, at center, facet-cut square (W. 1.7 cm) filled with crosshatching, perhaps to eliminate pontil mark.
