Physical DescriptionAlmost colorless, with yellowish tinge; many minute bubbles. Blown; facet-, linear-, and slant-cut. Bottle with ovoid body. Rim plain, with flat top; neck cylindrical; wall curves out, down, and in; base plain, with rounded side; no pontil mark. Decorated on neck and wall. On neck: five continuous horizontal bands (from top to bottom): (1) plain; (2) row of four square facets; (3) six rhomboid facets forming continuous band of tall, narrow chevrons; (4) row of four square facets; and (5) four tall rectangular facets. Bands 1–3 are separated by continuous grooves, with additional grooves above 1 and below 3. On wall: continuous horizontal frieze of linear- and slant-cut ornament: two rhombuses with double outlines, each containing one elongated S-shaped element between two hatched oval motifs, and with two or three straight cuts in background. Rhombuses are separated on either side by two pairs of S-shaped motifs; in every case, S on left is reversed to create symmetrical design. At centers of three pairs of S-shaped motifs is one tear-shaped motif with horizontal hatching; fourth pair has small area of crosshatching instead; spaces between adjacent pairs also have single tear-shaped motif with horizontal hatching. Frieze is bordered at top by narrow band of rudimentary chevrons and at bottom by single line. Between band of chevrons and top of wall, two continuous horizontal grooves. Tops and bottoms of S-shaped motifs are slant-cut; remainder of decoration is linear-cut.
