Physical DescriptionClear glass; slight wear marks; free-blown, with set-in (cemented) medallions and hoops. Cylindrical tumbler; around rim and bottom two hoops in red (amethyst) against a golden background and with silver-flowers (forget-me-nots), the top one bearing an engraved inscription on the inside: "So viel Freund-und Nahmensfeste, als der Becher Tropfen haeld, soll Frau Loischen noch erleben, bloss zur Freude dieser Weld. 1796"; the medallion on the body shows on the outside a wreath of silver- flowers on red against a golden background, surrounding a golden initial "S.A." (or "A.S.") on a green background, and on the inside an inscription engraved through the gold-leaf: "Aus Liebe und Dankbarkeit gewidmet von ihrem ergebensten Die ner Jos. Mildner"; the bottom-medallion has on the outside a multi-pointed star in gold- and silverleaf, on the inside the portrait of St. Aloysius, gold on red, holding crucifix and flower.Provenance
