Physical DescriptionComparatively heavy greenish glass with many bubbles and impurities; free-blown and enameled. Beaker flaring to rim and also flaring slightly at lower body, pushed up base with a very rough pontil mark, applied crimped foot ring; enamel decoration: consists of a frieze, in multicolored enamel, including the coat of arms of the masons with tools, flanked by a young couple handsomely dressed, the husband holding in his left hand a stemmed wine glass, [and the woman holding in her right hand a bunch of flowers; both are standing on patches of grass on which grow scroll-like plants or flowers in white and yellow; the coat of arms is flanked by: "C.L. 1707."; on the back: "Gottes Gnadt Udnt Gesunder Leib, Ein Sanfftes bett Undt Schoenes Weib, Weisz bratt (Brof) Undt Reinscher Wein, Wasz Kontt wol besser alsz Diesses Sein" (God's blessing and health, soft hand and beautiful wife, meat and Rhine wine, what could be better than these things.); the whole representation is framed at top and bottom by red, yellow and blue lines, the blue line on top interrupted by groups of three white dots; the top line is a wavy white line.
