Physical DescriptionColorless; small bubbles. Blown; linear- and slant-cut. Beaker shaped like truncated cone. Rim plain; wall straight and tapering; base is in form of disk, with flat boss (H. 0.1 cm, D. 2.6 cm) at center; no pontil mark. Wall has continuous frieze of irregular linear- and slant-cut decoration, which extends from about 2.7 cm below rim to 1.5 cm above bottom and consists of one register bordered by two horizontal grooves at top and one horizontal groove at bottom. Frieze is slant-cut and consists of two narrow palmettes alternating with two broader palmettes. Each narrow palmette has tip uppermost, two large volutes, and pointed oval motif toward tip. Each broader palmette is similar, but has ogival outline. Spaces between palmettes are filled with scrolling vegetal motifs. Below border at bottom of frieze, wall was cut back to create disklike foot.Provenance
