Physical DescriptionColorless (faint purplish) non-lead glass; blown, pressed, engraved. Bell-shaped bowl with engraved full-length portrait of a male armored figure, with crown, orb, and scepter on a pedestal at right, pedestal stem formed of a large bird attacking a child; rectangular frame bordered by foliate scrolls; on reverse, a two-headed eagle inscribed "C:VI." on a shield on its breast, inscribed "VIVAT CAROLUS" and "CONSTANTIA & FORTITUDINE" in arcs above and below; merese above a hollow flattened ball knop, a dumbbell knop, a pincer-formed disk impressed with a double-headed (Habsburg) eagle on either side (disk mounted upside down), with pincered, trailed decoration at sides; double knop and column at base of stem; circular foot with engraved decoration of stylized circular flowers; rough pontil mark.
