Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, engraved. Large, cylindrical straight-sided bowl with rounded base, sides engraved with four oval panels, each with an engraved scene representing one of the Four Seasons: Spring, a nude female with billowing scarf, holding a wreath over her head, a putto alongside, a radiant sun at the left, a cornucopia under foot; Summer, a female figure with grain in her hair, holding a sheaf of grain in one arm, pointing to a putto who ties a sheaf of grain, with a radiant sun above; Fall as Bacchus, with grape vines in his hair and around his waist, holding a goblet in his upraised left arm, leaning on a barrel with his right, fruiting vines alongside, and a flying bird above; Winter as a bearded man in fur hat and coat, leaning on a staff, carrying a pail, leaning toward a fire, a warmly dressed child sitting beside the fire; polished ovals and diamonds, with flowers and birds separate each panel; concave base, rough pontil mark, three applied flattened ball (bun) feet.
