Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, cut, engraved. Tall, tapered, straight-sided bowl; cut oval panel on the front, with elaborately engraved mountain scene, with six men and three dogs, returning from a hunt, with a dead bear on a horse-drawn sled before them; a man leads the horse, and a dog runs from a house at the right to meet them; a man smoking a pipe stands on the porch of the house; trees and mountains in the background; signed (script, engraved) "Hoffmann" at the bottom, right, and "Hoffmann" on the side of the panel, near the bottom; cut wide flat panels above and below, and around the sides; cut raised ovals, with oval concave central facet (a "reducing lens") on the back; angular cut ledges at the base of the bowl; tapered bottom of the bowl with cut steps; waisted, panel-cut knop stem; tall, panel-cut, trumpet-shaped foot with cut petal rim; the underside of the foot ground flat.
